What an Employment Agency Cannot DoWhile employment agencies offer many advantages to the job seeker, there are also some built-in drawbacks. The agency does not earn any money until it places an employee in a company. In addition, the job counselor who works with you is usually paid on commission based on job placements. If your employment counselor tries to pressure you into taking a job that does not really appeal to you, you may either need a new counselor or a new agency. Also, be concerned about a counselor who is pessimistic about your chances for landing the position you want and tries to talk you into seeking a job not suited to your needs. Nevertheless, listen carefully to the counselor's assessment of your skills and suggestions on how to best market them. You may be overestimating your skills or unrealistically viewing the job market. |
